Johana Shine Tent 96 was chartered by the Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War, 1861-1865 on 16 February 2014 in Lyon County, Nevada. Initiation and installation ceremonies were held at the Buckland Station, a stagecoach station built in 1870. The Station was situated near historic Fort Churchill. The Fort was built in 1861 to provide protection to early settlers and guard Pony Express mail runs. Twenty-three women were initiated as Charter members of the new Johana Shine Tent 96 (see Charter below).
